Lord Howe Island Brewing
Lord Howe Island Brewing Co. has been brewing and winning awards since 2019. We use unique endemic botanicals such as Island Hibiscus, Kentia Palm, Guava & Melaleuca, foraged on the island under license. Brewing in a range of styles, that have become crowd favourites both on the Island and back on the Mainland.
Each one of our products heroes an endemic or native animal. Through this we celebrate and share important information about the unique fauna found on Lord Howe and nowhere else in the world. Our beer is available across the Island at all good licensed premises. Available in draft on tap and also a variety of can styles, so you can enjoy them whether you are having a beach BBQ for lunch, or dinner with friends at one of the many restaurants.
Our signature beer is our Phasmid Pale Ale. It is American-inspired and a nod to Anthony’s whaling ancestor, Nathan Thompson, who settled on Lord Howe in 1853. This bold-flavoured APA provides an aroma of citrus and pine with hints of Lord Howe Island in every brew. The Lord Howe Island Phasmid (Dryococelus australis) was thought to be extinct by the 1930’s, only to be rediscovered in 2001. Regarded as the “the rarest insect in the world”, with only 24 individuals living on Ball’s Pyramid, this beer celebrates the Phasmid captive breeding program to reintroduce them to the Island.
Ask for a Golden Whistler Lager, Phasmid Pale Ale, or Kingfish Pafic Ale at the bar when you are on the Island.
