1️⃣First things first, the Lord Howe Island phasmid is a rare and endangered species found exclusively on #LordHoweIsland

2️⃣ These phasmids are often referred to as "land lobsters" due to their size and appearance. But don't worry, they're not as intimidating as they sound! In fact, they're quite harmless and super friendly.

3️⃣ What makes these phasmids truly remarkable is their size! They can grow up to a whopping 6 inches long, making them one of the largest stick insects in the world.

4️⃣ Now, here's the most mind-blowing fact: the Lord Howe Island phasmid was actually thought to be extinct for over 80 years! 😱 But in 2001, a small population was discovered on Ball's Pyramid

5️⃣ Since then, dedicated conservation efforts have been put in place to protect and breed these incredible insects. Thanks to the hard work of scientists and conservationists, the Lord Howe Island phasmid population is slowly making a comeback. 🙌
